RE: Electric Awnings

Looking at changing from an A&E two-step awning to an electric awning. Spoke with a trailer dealer locally and they tell me that we cannot remove our existing awning and replace with the Carefree Eclipse. Our existing awning is 20ft and extends from in front of our door to the other side of the kitchen slide out, mounted above the kitchen slide topper awning. They tell me that the arms will be too low and that we would bump into them. I have looked at a number of pictures of these awnings and cannot see how that would be the case. Looking for info in this area from those that have the Eclipse with a kitchen slide. We have also looked at the Girard awning but cannot find a dealer in Northern Ontario or Michigan.

RE: MaxxAir Vent covers - need help

We had installed this season in the same locations as yours the Maxx Air Fan/Mate Model 900. We love them. The vents have stayed open all summer and have been great. The fantastic fan in the kitchen seems to run quieter since the maxx air was installed. When travelling we don't have to run the AC unless it is extremely hot as the Fantastic fan with the Maxx Air does all that we need in the coach while travelling. I think they are worht the extra money and wouldn't not have them now.

Dometic - Sealand

I just wanted to let everyone know what great service I received today from Dometic in Ohio. We have had a problem with our vacuflush toilet since the week after we purchased our motorhome new. The dealer has been great in getting it back up and fixed quickly. Two weekends ago the bowl seal went and also a leak at the rear of the toilet. The leak at the rear has been an ongoing problem which we have had worked on. The dealer suggested that I call Dometic directly and see what they thought. Well I called and got all real people answering telephones which was a great surprise. Spoke with one woman in Customer Service who got quite a kick out of my comment on a "toilet from h**l". She then passed me to her supervisor. He was great. He asked a few questions and then said that they would send me a whole new base unit and seals at no charge. Then through further conversation he said he would send me a whole new toilet and the problem should then be solved. He was just great. Very happy with the service we received.

RE: Driving and RV

I too agree with everyone else. We are fortunate and have a couple that travel with us quite regularly and he does the driving since he drives bus. So for us to take it out on our own the first time was quite a challenge. We had many Class C's and I can put one of those anywhere, but the A was a huge difference. Time driving is the best medicine. After awhile driving you will be more comfortable. Today I drove 600 km alone to pick up my father in law after surgery and felt great after pulling in the driveway. I too had to learn many of the tricks the hard way. One thing that has always stuck with me from other posters is to look ahead of you and not right in front of you. That alone was a huge help. You will get to be a Pro someday. Good Luck, and have fun.

RE: Can a Fleetwood Fiesta LX pull a Stacker Trailer?

We have the W24 and cannot tow our race car trailer with it loaded as loaded weight of trailer is 7900 lbs and the MH can only tow 6000 lbs. We had hoped we could tow the race car but unfortunately we cannot. Have to use the toad to tow the trailer. Women in MH and men in toad. Works for us.

RE: Help 2008 Fleetwood Bounder 38P Input

We have a 07 Bounder 38P and absolutely love it. I can tell you from experience here in Northern Ontario that it handles extremely well. I am not an experienced Class A driver and have had no problems driving it. Drove across Mackinaw Bridge in Michigan a month ago during one heck of a wind storm and had no problems at all. We love the floor plan and looking at the 09 models I have not found anything that can compare to what you get in this model.
We have in ours a Workhorse Chassis, all slides have toppers, a two step awning (not electric) have read some of the horror stories with those so I'm happy with the one we have; Satellite (not in motion); full body paint in Bahama Blue; washer dryer all in one; regular dinette (wished I could have had the U Shape - not avail in Canada unless preorder) 3 TV's Upfront 27" mid coach 32" and 20" in bedroom. We have added 2 RV 360 vents and also vent covers over the fantastic fans. The only things I have found that it does not have that would add in is Central Vac - can get it but piping it would be a lot of work and cost due to the opposing living room slides and the exterior compartments. Chose a compact central vac from Intellivac Design - works great. Also I would like to add the remote for the Onan. Would be much nicer to push a button to turn off generator at night rather than getting out of bed and going up front to turn it off.
Only issues were minor - trouble with a toilet leak which turned out to be the seal and also not being screwed all the way to the floor; drawers under the dinette were not opening well - dealer corrected immediately and the interior trim above the kitchen slide came part way off - air nailer fixed that.
We travel with no less than 4 up to 8 people at any given time traveling for stock car racing and it has been into some pretty nasty back roads and has handled very well. No one bumps into anyone. Sleeping 6 is not a problem but 4 is best. Since June 07 we have put 13,000 kilometers on her and the generator is sitting at about 560 right now. Our last big trip last month was 1250 kilometers to Wisconsin and back and we averaged 63-65 mph and got about 8 mpg. Thought it would have been a lot less. We have gotten better mileage since we broke the 10,000 kilometer mark. Also our CCC is around the 2700 mark and we have it full and have not even come close to it. Also we tow a Suburban and the towing capacity of the W24 is rated for 6000 lbs.
Best move we ever made. If you have any other questions feel free to email me with them, would be happy to help.
Good Luck!!!

RE: Compact Vacuum

Hi There
Spent 6 months looking for a good vacuum. Take a look at this one
http://www.intervacdesign.com/
I just love ours. It is so good I keep it mounted in the MH and when at home I take it out and have a mount for it in the house too.
Works great, has excellent suction. Only downfall is no beater bar, but since I got it at Christmas I have been extremely happy with it and don't miss the beater bar.

RE: What would you do?

Hey, that's the SMALLEST, most YELLOW, 2004 Suburban I've ever seen !!
That's my summer car for home. Cannot tow it 4 down and don't want to trailer it besides it doesn't quite hold enough people for us.

RE: What would you do?

SWM
Contact your dealer regarding the slide out problems. I have the same floorplan in a Bounder, ours is an 07. Fleetwood had a recall back in January this year. It is for 2007 - 2008 Fleetwood Bounders and Pace Arrow Model 38P manufactured between January 4, 2007 and Sept. 28, 2007 they said the potential number of units involved is 163. I would read your placard behind the driver's seat to see what your date of manufacture was. If you cannot find it there contact Fleetwood and give them your FIN # and they will tell you when your coach was manufactured and if it falls into this recall. If it falls between
those dates you need to take it to a Fleetwood dealer who can perform this work.
We have never had a problem with our slide but contacted our dealer when we heard about it and they ordered the parts and we had it repaired the first of May this year. We have had relatively few problems with our motorhome since our purchase last June. Cross our fingers as June 1st most things are out of warranty with Fleetwood. We are fortunate though to have an excellent dealer here in Ontario that has been great to deal with. Get these things checked out by your dealer as they should all be covered.

RE: Vacumn toilets, anyone?

We have the vacuum as well on our 07 Bounder and we only have one washroom but it is a distance from the black tank. Noise is a little bit to be desired. Not great when you have company sleeping over.

RE: New Pace Arrow owner!

Congratulations on your purchase.
We have the 2007 Bounder 38P and just love it. That was great gas mileage as last summer we averaged only 7 mpg.
We are on our way to the dealer next weekend 400 miles away to pick ours up. We took it to the dealer to be winterized and have a few add-ons done and some warranty work in November and winter hit us pretty hard so we decided to leave it with them for the winter.
We haven't had any real issues with it. All warranty work has been very minor.
Drawers under the dinette were out of line. A piece of the trim on the kitchen slide came off and we did have a leak in the toilet area. Nothing that stopped us from using it all summer. We have a great dealer and service Centrex so that really helps.
We added a new vent for the toilet along with the max airs that allow us to leave open our fantastic fans while driving. Hopefully we can cut back on the generator use while driving. Tried for central vac but due to the opposing slide in the living area the piping would be a huge job so that was not done. We did find a central vac though that mounts to the wall (Intellivac) on the internet and we purchased it and it works great in the house so we are using it for both.
As said in a previous post there is an issue with the slide. It is only for 2007 - 2008 Fleetwood Bounders and Pace Arrow Model 38P manufactured between January 4, 2007 and Sept. 28, 2007. So it may not affect you.
Otherwise it is a fabulous machine and we just love it.
Happy Trails !!!

RE: Nissan Armada

Thanks for the info. Not what I wanted but still works.
I asked the dealer service department where we are purchasing it and he could not tell me.
As the unit is being ordered they did not have a manual for me to check.
Thanks again for the info. Easier to ask here then to call them.

Nissan Armada

Wondering if anyone knows is a Nissan Armada can be towed 4 wheels down. Ordered an 09 last week with delivery late this summer but no one could tell me if it was towable 4 wheels down. Still keeping one of our vehicles so I won't have an issue if it cannot be but just wondering what anyone here may know. Seems the forums know a lot more than those that should know. Did a search on Blue Ox's website and they do not list a base plate for them but I did read on the forum that someone flat tow's a Titan with a Blue Ox plate and a coupler from Remco. Blue Ox didn't list a base plate for the Titan either so just wondering what they are using as I understand both are on the same frame.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

When is it time to consider an Inverter

We have an 07 Bounder with a 5.5 Onan Marquis Gold Generator. Last summer was our first summer and we did quite a bit of boondocking at race tracks and a week at a country festival in Wisconsin. We have accumulated 475 hours on the generator. Now our dealer and our mechanic have suggested not to get an inverter as they are of the opinion that "don't use it you loose it". Also they have both said that there is a 3 year warranty on it so consider an inverter after this time. It has been properly maintained and we have no issues with it. I don't know much about inverters but I do know that we use the generator on a regular basis when not plugged in due to the pets.
Just looking for other opinions.

RE: Bounder 38P

We have an 07 38P Bounder and absolutely love it. Out of the hundreds that we looked at for 2 years this was the best one. Quality is excellent, only a few minor issues that the dealer has taken care of. I still look at new ones and can't find anything that has the comfort and quality that we have for what we paid for it. They say that the Bounder has the most bang for their buck, and they are right. The only thing on my wish list that was not included was a central vac and due to the layout to pipe it would take forever. The dealer said I would be better off spending the money on a good compact canister vac than paying him loads of hours to install it. Our mechanic that also drives buses says that he has never driven a coach that is so smooth. We tow a Suburban behind and he said he would never even know it was there. The king bed is awesome. It is a better mattress than in our house. Sleeps 6 comfortably if needed, and then the dinette can still fold down as well. We used it this summer for a family wedding and left it parked in the parking lot at the hall with all slides out and at one point I counted 15 people in it and no one was bumping into one another just mingling. It is a wonderful machine. Can't wait for the spring. Any specific questions just ask away.
